Long Beach police are investigating after a gunman opened fire on a group of people a few blocks away from Washington Middle School Monday night. The gunfire started around around 8 p.m. near 15th Street and Daisy Avenue, according to Long Beach Police Department spokeswoman Nancy Pratt. That's when a gunman approached the group of men or boys and started shooting but apparently missed, she said. Nobody reported being wounded, according to Pratt. The gunman fled on foot before police arrived, she said. Investigators think the shooting may be gang-related, according to Pratt. Police couldn't immediately provide a description of the gunman.

A man was arrested after groping a woman and then masturbating in a Cerritos grocery store last week, according to authorities. The man was at a Sprouts store in the 11900 block of South Street around 6 p.m. on Aug. 13 when he exposed himself and groped a woman's buttocks while she was shopping, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Armando Viera Jr. said in a news release Friday. "While the victim went to report it to a store manager, the suspect began to masturbate while watching another female customer shop," the sheriff's department said in a crime bulletin. The store manager kept the man at the store until deputies arrived to arrest him, Viera said. Authorities identified the man as Daniel Tejeda, a 25-year-old from Buena Park. He was arrested on suspicion of indecent exposure and held in lieu of $10,000 bail, according the sheriff's department. Investigators are now looking for any more witnesses to the incident or possible victims. Authorities said Tejeda may be homeless and rides and older, black mountain bike. Investigators asked anyone with information to contact Sgt. Gilbert Ramirez at 562-860-0044.
