One person was killed today in a one-car collision in Long Beach.

The collision was reported at 2:05 a.m. at Wardlow Road and the southbound 710 Freeway where the vehicle went off the freeway into an embankment and struck a tree, California Highway Patrol Officer Patrick Kimball told City News Service.

The driver of the vehicle was trapped inside and was pronounced dead at the scene, Kimball said.

The crash closed all lanes of the southbound freeway except for the No. 1 lane.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
