Violence broke out last night as gunshots rang through East 16th Street outside of a home near the merging of Alamitos and Orange Avenue. Two were injured as a woman was rushed to the hospital, and a 15-year old boy was pronounced dead. The woman’s injuries were non-life threatening, according to a staff report in the Press-Telegram today, which also includes photos taken by Diandra Jay of a memorial at the site.

The Los Angeles Times‘ local blog L.A. Now has picked up the story, and writer Raja Abdulrahim describes the scene as a man walked up and opened fire just past midnight. Authorities have not released the names of the victims, but the P-T report includes a police quote that indicates the shooting may have been gang related.
