A 17-year-old girl who went missing in Los Angeles in August but was found in Long Beach this week ran away again, leading to the issuance of an Ebony Alert today as police again sought help finding her.

According to Long Beach police, Rodjanae Harrell was initially reported missing by the Los Angeles Police Department on Aug. 13, but was found Thursday by the Long Beach Police Department.

The girl was transferred to the custody of the county Department of Children and Family Services around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, but the girl managed to run away again, police said. It was unclear how she managed to escape.

Harrell was described as a 5-foot-2-inch-tall Black girl weighing 130 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

She was last seen wearing a green hoodie, black basketball shorts with white stripes at the base, and black slide-slippers.

Police said the teen is known to frequent the Long Beach and San Bernardino areas, but her destination was unknown.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Harrell was urged to contact the LBPD Missing Persons Detail at 562-570-7246 or police dispatch at 562-435-6711. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit lacrimestoppers.org.

The law creating the Ebony Alert went into effect on New Year’s Day. It covers Black children, teenagers, and young adults 12 to 25 years old who are reported missing under unexplained or suspicious circumstances, or those who are at-risk, developmentally disabled, cognitively impaired, or who have been abducted.
