Authorities arrested two men for allegedly assaulting a man, who was left hospitalized, in Belmont Shore in Long Beach early Sunday morning, police say.

At around 12:30 a.m., Long Beach police officers, who were on patrol in the area of Second Street and Corona Avenue, were first flagged down regarding a fight, which was later determined to be felony battery, police said.

Officers rendered aid to the victim until paramedics arrived and transported the victim to a local hospital, police said. Police believe the two suspects assaulted the victim, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries to the upper body.

Details of what led up to the brawl were not available as police continue to investigate the incident.

Officers arrested and booked Lakewood resident Vancamp Iakopo, 32, on suspicion of battery with serious bodily injury, police said. His bail is set at $50,000.

A second suspect, who has not yet been named, was arrested at the scene and transported to a local hospital for medical clearance prior to booking; his booking is still pending, police said.
