The chicks, who aren’t quite ready to fly or swim, keep stumbling off into the water from two anchored 180-foot-long barges, according to officials.
The Native American Heritage Commission, a governor-appointed agency, has accused CSULB of misstating and misrepresenting the commission’s position and role in facilitating the communication between the university and tribal groups.
Playground company representative Eric Lewis said that he and Long Beach officials just entered the early stages of replacing the playground. “We all wanna see this thing get fixed,” he said. “It has our full attention.”
The wrong-way driver was first spotted at around 5:20 a.m. Multiple 911 callers reported she was driving up to 90 mph, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Two cars and two nearby residential buildings were hit by gunfire, but nobody was injured, police said.
The Long Beach Police Department said in a statement that they believe the suspect, Daniel Williams of Santa Ana, did not know the victim, Javante Fearence of Long Beach, prior to the incident, but that homicide detectives collected evidence of his involvement in the fatal shooting.
Both victims were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, police said.
The two victims were pronounced dead at the scene and at least one vehicle caught fire, the CHP said.
“It was just kind of devastating ‘cause I know a lot of the kids like to play with that, and a lot of people go to the park for that,” one local said.
“Coffee with a Cop” will take place at the Starbucks at 281 E. Willow St. between 10 a.m. and noon, according to Long Beach police.
