Reports of a capsized boat near the Ben Weston Beach on Catalina Island initially sent rescue crews in search of two people who’d been aboard at about 10:40 Saturday morning.
While county lifeguards were responding to the area, the Coast Guard informed them that the two people made it to the beach safely and the rescue was canceled, Ed Pickett, supervisor for Los Angeles County Fire Dispatch, said.
Both people were uninjured, he said.
