6:32am | Residents in Long Beach may have felt a quick jolt early Monday morning when a magnitude-3.4 earthquake occurred in South Los Angeles.
The 12:09 a.m. temblor was centered in the county unincorporated area of Willowbrook, about 11 miles north of Long Beach, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The USGS said the quake was felt throughout the South Bay, Long Beach and North Orange County. Residents living as far away as Burbank felt the quake, the Los Angeles Times reported.
There were no immediate reports of damage, authorities said.
A magnitude-1.5 aftershock occurred almost simultaneously about 2 miles away from the initial quake. Another magnitude-1.3 aftershock was recorded about four minutes later in the Santa Monica Mountains about midway between Tarzana and the stretch of Pacific Coast Highway that runs beween Pacific Palisades and Malibu.
