Four people were arrested Thursday night on suspicion of robbing a 7-Eleven in Compton, authorities said.

The suspects may be connected to a string of similar robberies recently reported across the Southland, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department.

Just before 11 p.m., deputies responded to a robbery alarm at a 7-Eleven in the 1500 block of South Long Beach Boulevard in Compton, officials said. They learned that armed suspects had robbed the convenience store and took off with money, authorities said.

A tracking device that was placed inside the cash led deputies to a vehicle. After conducting a traffic stop, they were able to find the suspects and take them into custody. Inside the car, authorities found the money taken from the 7-Eleven and two BB guns.

The suspects, whose names were not immediately released, were taken to a detention facility, where they await court proceedings.

Detectives are investigating whether the suspects are also connected to recent robberies in Lakewood, Los Angeles, Glendale and Irvine sometime after Jan. 14, authorities said.

Anyone with more information is urged to contact deputies at 310-605-6500.
