Five people were hospitalized after overdosing on unknown drugs early Sunday morning, fire officials said.

The people, identified only as four men and one woman in their late 20s, were found in a home on the 800 block of Grand Avenue in the city’s Recreation Park neighborhood, according to Long Beach Fire Department Cpt. Jack Crabtree. The fire and police departments responded to the reported overdose around 2:50 a.m., Crabtree added.

Paramedics administered “advanced life support” at the scene before transporting the patients to a local hospital, Crabtree said.

Narcan was administered to the patients, according to LBPD spokesperson Jennifer Serafin, who said an investigation is ongoing.

The scene, which included 23 fire department personnel and five ambulances as well as LBPD units, was completely cleared by around 3:30 a.m., Crabtree said.

The status of the patients is unknown, Crabtree added, as the fire department is not given updates once they are delivered to hospitals.
