A 25-year-old man died after being thrown from an SUV that swerved off the 710 Freeway and crashed into a Blue Line rail yard, according to the CHP.

The man was a passenger in the Chevrolet Trailblazer that crashed through a fence and rolled over around 11:30 p.m. Monday night, authorities said.

The SUV’s driver was headed north on the 710 just before Del Amo Boulevard when the Trailblazer’s left rear tire suddenly went flat, the CHP said in a report.

The SUV swerved to the right where it hit a curb and went off the roadway, through some bushes and flipped over in the nearby rail yard, according to the CHP.

The crash ejected the 25-year-old man from the front passenger seat, the CHP said. At first, he seemed relatively unharmed. He was awake and walking around, according to the CHP.

“Moments later, the passenger complained of chest pain and difficulty breathing,” a CHP investigator wrote.

Paramedics took him to a nearby hospital where he died, authorities said.

The SUV’s driver, a 28-year-old woman from Long Beach, suffered minor injuries in the crash, according to the CHP.

Authorities didn’t immediately identify the man who died, but they said he’s a Los Angeles resident.

It appears he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, authorities said.
