“If you are reading this post, you are now an active participant in a great new media experiment.”

That sentence launched this Web site two years ago today. Here are the top two lessons learned since launching this experiment 730 days ago:

1. Robert Garcia, my friend of over a decade and co-founder of the LBPOST family, came to me in the summer of 2006 with an idea to create a place where the news and our community can come together. He told me, “Let’s build something that can be a living history of a city we both love.” Thousands of news, commentary, and sports stories later, read by over one million people, we look back over these past two years knowing that we continue to play a role in building a living history of Long Beach.

2. Media delivery is not a one way street. It is a commitment to providing the tools to create a collaborative partnership between anyone who has a passion to write and those who want to know more.

Thank you to our passionate community writers who contribute to this media experiment. They play an important role in revolutionizing how you access and interact with their commentary.

Thank you to Ryan Smolar who brings us his technological vision and skill allowing our work to come to life each day.

Thanks to all of our sponsors who believe in what we are doing and find value in the return on investment we provide.

The guys at the LBPOSTsports.com, Mike Guardabascio and J.J. Fiddler, two extraordinary men who so passionately built the only daily Web site in Long Beach dedicated to sports.

To our lbpost.com managing editor Ryan ZumMallen, who brilliantly manages this experiment each day with energy and commitment.

Finally, thank YOU, our reader. You are the most important part of media delivery and we are excited that you are with us for the journey.

It is in that spirit, that we ALL look forward to many more years of something great, new and revolutionary.
