What was going on at Sachi Bar last Friday night?  The rainbow carpet was rolled out to welcome droves of guests with one thing in common: they wanted to dance and have a good time.

A new dance venue, “The Public,” opened to the public on Feb. 27th, and it looks like it is going to be the place to be every Friday night. Located at The Sachi Bar at the Sea Port Marina, the goal of The Public is to provide a quality dance club in Long Beach where every member of the public – gay, lesbian, straight, bisexual, etc. – can dance and mingle without worrying about being in the “wrong place” because everyone is welcome.

“I don’t have to leave my straight friends home – I can bring all of my friends here,” said one guest.

The Public at the Sachi Bar features DJ TR spinning electro/indie/pop music, and they are out and proud about being one of the few places in Long Beach where you can actually dance. There is a great dance floor, plenty of bar space, and couches and booths to sit at. There is a large patio with lots of comfortable seating and a Taco Stand outside too.

The Public is committed to providing a safe, inclusive space that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg to get into. They feature drink specials every week and the door charge is minimal. They are open every Friday night @ Sachi from 9 pm to 2 am.

On Friday March 6th, they are giving away tickets to the Coachella Music Festival, and on March 13th, they are giving away tickets to the Cut Copy concert @ the Henry Fonda Theater in Los Angeles. They are welcoming birthday parties and special events with a package that includes a VIP booth and champagne.
