Have you been meaning to devote more time to your writing? Or to see your work published? Or just to see if you’re any good?
For the expert and novice alike, submissions are being accepted for the short-story collection Book By Authors: North Long Beach Anthology, which will be compiled entirely of stories (fiction or non-fiction) and illustration by the Long Beach community. That means you! There are only two requirements: submissions must be 300 words or less, and they must be inspired by North Long Beach. Submissions are due March 15.
“We seek all topics, but we especially hope to receive stories that include the eight-sided house on 55th Street, Shady Acres, Scherer Park Police Station, Martha “Mike” Croft, the L.A. River, Freeway development, the Union Pacific Railroad, and family histories and immigrant stories,” said project manager Rachel Potucek.
“And if you don’t have a connection to north Long Beach, you can write about that. This is an ideal writing exercise in geography, history, or seeing through another person’s eyes.”
Book by Authors: North Long Beach Anthology will be published this May, and book sales will benefit the Fairfield YMCA and the Connected Corridor Project. Enter your submissions by e-mail ([email protected]), online (bookbyauthors.org) or mail (555 East Third Street).
