Former Long Beach Director of Public Works and current Long Beach Airport Director Christine Andersen will leave her position to be Director of Public Works for the city of Santa Barbara.  Andersen has been the Airport Director since 2007, and served as Long Beach’s Director of Public Works from 2003 – 2007.

“It has been a terrific experience working in Long Beach, and I’ll always appreciate the staffs commitment to public service, especially because the quality of employees is truly outstanding,” Andersen said in a released statement. “I’m going to miss all the connections I’ve made here as I look forward to new adventures in Santa Barbara.”

Andersen oversaw 125 employees and a $26 million operating budget during her time at the airport, after directing 712 employees and a $200 million budget as Director of Public Works.

“I wish to personally thank Christine for her hard work and dedication to the City of Long Beach. During her time here she oversaw extremely complex and challenging issues at the Long Beach Airport, and throughout the Department of Public Works,” City Manager Pat West said in a released statement. “We all wish her the best as she begins her new chapter.”
