This Thursday, June 14th, all 11 Democrats running for Congress will debate at Cabrillo High School at 6:30 pm. The Long Beach Democratic Club, Charter Communications and the lbpost.com are co-sponsoring the event.
Marc Brown of ABC-7 will be moderating the debate. He will also be selecting questions submitted by you, our readers here at the Post.
The debate will be featured in the ABC-7 11:00 news, on the ABC7.com website and on the KABC digital channels. Charter Communications will also be broadcasting the debate.
Below are the rules for the debate.
DEBATE RULES
1) The debate will be 90 minutes in length.
2) The moderator will be Marc Brown from KABC, who will ask all questions. He will have ultimate discretion over the questions to be asked.
3) Each candidate will have a 2 minute opening statement.
4) Each candidate will have a 1 minute closing statement.
5) A candidate will get 1 minute to answer each question. Each candidate will receive a 15 second warning when their time is up. When time is up, the moderator will stop the candidate if they are still speaking.
6) If a candidate or a candidate’s position is directly challenged, that challenged candidate will have an opportunity to a rebuttal for 30 seconds.
7) No signs or banners will be allowed in the auditorium. Space will be provided for candidates to distribute literature outside of the auditorium.
