The International Association of Fire Fighters and three of the largest unions representing firefighters in California have endorsed Jenny Oropeza for the upcoming June 26 special election for Congressional District 37. This seat represents Long Beach, Signal Hill, Carson, Compton and parts of Los Angeles City.
“Senator Oropeza has demonstrated her commitment to public safety and the firefighters, and I know she will be a champion in Congress,” says IAFF General President Harold Schaitberger. “I look forward to working with her.”
Long Beach Firefighters Local 372 is also backing Oropeza. “The Senator has long been our champion in Long Beach,” adds Rich Brandt, president, of Long Beach Firefighters Union. “She has worked at every level of government to ensure the safety of those we protect.”
Long Beach Firefighters Local 372, United Firefighters of Los Angeles City Local 112 and Los Angeles County Local 1014 are hosting a press conference this Saturday in Signal Hill at Hilltop Park. Also present at the event will be Congressmembers Hilda Solis and Xavier Becerra.
