Westsiders take note: Anaheim Street between Canal and Santa Fe avenues will be closed to all traffic in both directions on both Saturday, November 23 and Sunday, November 24 as part of a 14-month-long improvement project.
Beginning at 7:30AM on November 23 and continuing through 5PM on Sunday, Anaheim will be closed as crews replace underground water lines. Westbound traffic will be forced to take 14th Street while eastbound traffic will be detoured to 12th and 11th Streets.
According to officials from the Port of Long Beach, which is sponsoring and overseeing the project, other improvements include roadway resurfacing—which will cover Anaheim St. from the Los Angeles River to 9th Street—as well as improvements for sidewalks, bus stops, a new median, access for the disabled and landscaping.
The project is expected to be completed by November of 2014.
