A woman who was hospitalized after a car hit her while she was crossing Anaheim Street near the Los Angeles River has died at the hospital, according to Long Beach police.

Alona Prescott, a 22-year-old resident of Long Beach, was struck on Aug. 7 around 5:40 a.m., according to the LBPD.

Police said the driver was traveling westbound on Anaheim through the intersection of Oregon Avenue when Prescott stepped in front of the vehicle.

The driver was not able to stop and struck Prescott, police said. The driver remained at the scene and investigators ruled out alcohol, drugs or distracted driving as a factor in the crash, police said.

On Wednesday, police were notified that Prescott died on Aug. 14, the LBPD said.
