ORIGINAL 1:52PM | Two people were arrested yesterday afternoon after one of them allegedly brandished a weapon during a confrontation on the street in front of the apartment complex near the corner of Orange Ave. and South St.
According to Sgt. Aaron Eaton of the Long Beach Police Department, three suspects confronted a man and a woman as they were walking near the complex in the 5800 block of Orange Ave. at around 3:45PM yesterday and initial reports said one of the suspects may have been armed.
Though the three suspects fled the scene, responding officers then set up a perimeter near the complex where the confrontation occurred. When police approached an apartment in the complex, however, only one suspect was inside. As soon as officers called out to him, he came outside and was arrested.
Eaton says that two suspects were ultimately arrested who were involved in the incident. One subject was arrested for brandishing a firearm and the other subject had an outstanding warrant. It is unknown how the second suspect was apprehended.
Police say it was not clear what set off the confrontation, however the suspect said the man who was confronted by the trio had shot at him in the past. That man, however, told officers he didn’t know what the suspect was talking about.
