Authorities ID driver who died in high-speed crash into utility pole

Authorities on Friday identified the 22-year-old woman, who was killed when the car she was driving crashed into a utility pole in Long Beach.

The crash happened near Spring Street and Studebaker Road at about 10:55 p.m. Wednesday, the Long Beach Police Department reported.

There, “officers located a vehicle that had struck a utility pole,” police said in a statement. “Officers then located a female adult driver inside the vehicle.”

The woman died at the scene, police said. She was identified Friday by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner as Alexis Adams.

“The preliminary investigation revealed a 2024 BMW 440i was traveling eastbound on Spring Street at a high rate of speed,” the police statement said. “The vehicle then lost control and collided with a utility pole. At this time, speed is being investigated as a factor in the collision.”
