A 41-year-old motorcyclist who died Thursday in a crash on the southbound 405 Freeway in Long Beach has been identified.
The crash was reported near Cherry Avenue about 4:40 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
David Verweyst Jr., whose city of residence was unknown, died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office and the CHP.
Four southbound freeway lanes were closed for about three hours duringan investigation into the crash.
