Here’s a little teaser photo from today’s Battle of the Tribute Bands show at Rainbow Lagoon, the latest performance held by the popular and growing Summer And Music series. That bandshell falls somewhere between moderately- and criminally-underused, so it was great to see so many people enjoying the grass, beer gardens and acoustics that it provides.
Fan favorite tribute band Fan Halen beat out some very tough competition to win the battle, with Depeche Mode cover band Blasphemous Rumours coming in a very close second. Judges included two L.A. Record editors and former District Weekly editor-in-chief Ellen Griley.
Good weather, good people and free music. I felt very close to Long Beach today.
Tribute band Fan Halen was a fan favorite.
The beer gardens were hosted by Magic Hat brewery and was a great place to bask with a brew.
Solar panels provided power to the stage and shade to the fans.
Depeche Mode tribute band Blasphemous Rumours was another popular choice.
