The Long Beach Jr. Chamber presents the latest in its series of Beer & Politics events tonight at 7pm at Gallagher’s Pub & Grill, with a forum entitled:
S.O.S. Telegram? Is The Long Beach Press-Telegram Still A Local Paper?
Headlining the speaker panel are 7th District Councilperson Tonia Reyes Uranga, P-T Editorial Page Editor Larry Ellison and former P-T Publisher Ian Lamont.
Reyes Uranga recently brought a motion before the City Council to examine the city’s economic relationship with the Press-Telegram after the paper’s owner – MediaNews Group – moved headquarters to Torrance and eliminated many full-time staff positions. The panel will discuss the state of the newspaper and its future as a daily newspaper in Long Beach.
