Along with lbpost.com and other local organizations, the Long Beach Water Department has announced a campaign to further prevent water shortages by inviting residents to submit a 30-second video about the need to stop wasting water between now and May 2, 2008.

The only rules are that the videos must be original, 30 seconds long, and must use the phrase “Stop wasting water” at least once.  One video will be selected by the LBWD and partners and featured in a series of public service announcements to run on 14 channels this summer.  The videos will be judged on their potential ability to change the way that people use and conserve water.

The other organizations involved are the Surfrider Foundation, JustinRudd.com and Professor Alan Jacobs from Cal State Long Beach’s Film and Electronic Arts Department.
