Remember the City’s deal to acquire 175 acres of the Los Cerritos Wetlands? Of course you do. The deal was on, then unconfirmed, then back on again and is currently going through negotiations. The Grunion Gazette, however, reported that the sorry state of the California Budget has thrown a wrench into the process.
So there’s a lot going on.
You can get all caught up on the latest news and discussion of the wetlands purchase tomorrow night at our favorite monthly excuse to go out, Beer & Politics. Hosted by the Long Beach Junior Chamber as always, the January edition will be held at Gallagher’s on Broadway and the fun begins at 7:00pm. Long Beach Councilmember Gary DeLong and Assistant City Manager Suzanne Frick will speak and field questions from the crowd.
Some topics of discussion to spark your interest
– The importance of preserving local wetlands
– How the deal will affect (likely, eliminate) the proposed westside Sports Park
– How the deal will progress with current state budget complications (read: failure)
You can find more information about this and future events at the Beer & Politics website.
