A big-rig ended up tipped over on a steep embankment along the 405 Freeway in Long Beach this morning, snarling traffic while crews worked for hours to clear away the mess.

The crash, which didn’t involve any other vehicles, happened shortly after 11 a.m. on the northbound 405 Freeway near Cherry Avenue, according to a CHP dispatch log.

Officials didn’t immediately say if anyone was hurt in the wreck, but the truck and its empty trailer ended up on their sides along the edge for the freeway, according to the CHP.

Crews brought in a heavy-duty tow truck to help clear the mess, which was still blocking multiple lanes as of 12:30 p.m.
