A 32-year-old man has died days after he ran into traffic and was hit by a car in Bixby Knolls, Long Beach police announced today.

Police said the crash happened on the morning of Dec. 12 on Del Amo Boulevard near Gardenia Avenue.

Around 8:15 a.m., Angel D. Ibarra Jr. ran into the westbound lanes of Del Amo where a 2010 Chrysler Sebring hit him, according to the LBPD.

The crash left Ibarra on the street’s center median with major injuries, police said.

Medics rushed Ibarra, a Long Beach resident, to a local hospital where he died on Dec. 23, police said.

The Sebring’s driver, a 61-year-old man, was going about 35 mph when the crash happened, according to police.

He stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, according to authorities.

“Speed, cell phone distraction and/or DUI are not considered factors in this collision,” police said.

Police asked anyone with more information about the crash to contact Det. Sirilo Garcia at 562-570-7355
