Police found a dead body in the area of East Artesia Boulevard and the Los Angeles River in North Long Beach Sunday morning, authorities said.

Police and the Long Beach fire department responded to the area at about 8:42 a.m. this morning regarding a report of a dead body, said Long Beach police spokesperson Brandon Fahey.

The Los Angeles County Coroners office has been contacted and will respond to the scene to assist with the investigation, according to Fahey.

At this time, police had no information regarding the decedent. The circumstances of the individual’s have yet been determined, said Fahey.

Officers are currently on scene and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
