A body was found on the bank of the Los Angeles River in Long Beach on Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) officers were dispatched to the area of West 25th Street and De Forest Avenue regarding an “unknown trouble call” at about 1:05PM, said LBPD spokeswoman Marlene Arrona.

Long Beach Fire Department spokesman Jake Heflin added that the body was discovered by two fishermen.

Upon arrival, police officers found the body of a man on the riverbank.

LBFD personnel also responded to the incident and determined the man was dead, Heflin said.

The LA County Department of Coroner is currently en route to the scene, he said.

The investigation is ongoing and no further details, including identifying information about the man, were immediately available. We will update this story as we learn more.
