A body was found in Whaley Park in East Long Beach this morning, according to the Long Beach Police Department, but few details were immediately available.

According to Long Beach Fire Department spokesperson Capt. Jack Crabtree, fire department personnel were called to the park around 9:12 a.m. regarding a person who was unresponsive. When they arrived, they found that the person was dead and called in police for assistance, Crabtree said.

Police said there were no signs of foul play. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office responded to the scene and will determine the cause of death, police said.

It was not immediately clear who found the deceased person or in what condition they were discovered. Details on their age and gender weren’t available.

Authorities have not yet identified the body.
