Authorities pulled a body out of the Los Angeles River Friday morning near the Washington neighborhood, but Long Beach police said there do not appear to be any signs of foul play.

They are still awaiting word, however, from the Los Angeles County coroner’s office, which will determine the person’s cause of death.

Police said their officers were dispatched to the area of the LA River and Anaheim Street at about 9 a.m. to assist the Long Beach Fire Department in recovering a body from the water.

Police couldn’t immediately provide the identify, age or gender of the deceased person and said the investigation is still ongoing.
