Police say they’re investigating a shooting in North Long Beach Thursday night that left a boy injured.

Officers were notified of the shooting around 8:37 p.m. and responded to the 5400 block of Paramount Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

There, officers located a “male juvenile victim” who had been shot in the upper body, according to police.

Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the boy to a local hospital for treatment, police said, adding that he is expected to survive.

When officers interviewed the boy, he was uncooperative and declined to provide authorities with details about what happened, according to police.

Still, officers later determined the shooting actually took place in the 5500 block of Ackerfield Avenue after locating evidence in the area, including bullet casings, according to authorities.

At this time, there is no suspect information and the motive for the shooting is unknown, police said.
