Two juveniles were detained Tuesday afternoon as suspects in a possible arson case in North Long Beach, officials said Wednesday.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel were dispatched to a fire near 51st Street and Deforest Avenue at about 3:46PM, said LBFD spokesman Brian Fisk.
Two out of four juvenile suspects were detained by a citizen before firefighters arrived, and arson investigators questioned the suspects.
The first arriving units found a half-acre of brush burning, possibly from the illegal use of fireworks, Fisk said. However, fireworks have not been determined as the final cause as the fire is still under investigation, he said.
The fire took about an hour to put out with four engines, one truck, one Battalion Chief and one rescue, he said.
No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported, Fisk said, and there was no property damage to buildings.
