It is with a bittersweet mix of pride and nostalgia that the Long Beach Post announces the inaugural Shaun Lumachi Rising Star Award presented by the Long Beach City College’s Small Business Development Center.
Shaun, former publisher and co-founder of the Long Beach Post, was a local innovator, a brilliant businessman, and an avid community leader. He passed away on December 3, 2011, in a fatal car accident while he was in Miami on business. His passion for creating a better and more connected community here in Long Beach is only a fraction of his accomplishments in his short 33 years.
In honor of the spirit of Shaun, the call for nominations for the Rising Star Award said:
The Shaun Lumachi Rising Star Award recognizes entrepreneurs that have been in business for 3 years or more, with demonstrated high growth potential and job creation, and have exhibited a strong entrepreneurial mindset in growing and developing their business, while engaging others and the community to create positive impact for the greater Long Beach area.
The award will be presented at the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce’s annual Entrepreneur of the Year banquet, to be held at the Hyatt on April 11. Nominations for the Rising Star Award end March 25.
