11:01am | Darren LaCroix repeatedly studied 10 years worth of World Champion speaking contests to become the world champion among a field that started out with of 25,000 contestants, and the expert orator will be at the Lakewood Toastmasters Club Tuesday night to give a few pointers.
The club offers a place to hone public speaking skills by listening to expert speakers — many of the speakers are from Long Beach — do their thing in front of an audience.
Participants at tonight’s meeting will give one- to two-minutes speeches and receive feedback from LaCroix. The Lakewood Toastmasters Club, No.1497, has as members several leaders in the Long Beach business community.
The event is at the St. Martin Park Community Center, 5231 Ocana Ave., in Lakewood from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
