Some of the SBDC’s tips include: understand internet search to make sure your business can also be found on local search sites like CitySearch, Local.com and Yahoo!; 3 advertising online using targeted online ads, using location-based services like Foursquare, Gowalla, Google Places and Facebook Places.

Perhaps most importantly, the SBDC advises, “Experiment and learn. Track the results of each local marketing tool you use. As you learn what works and what doesn’t, you can fine-tune your business for greater success.”
