The Port of Long Beach (POLB) has named its newest Director of Engineering Design by way John Y. Chun, P.E., who was previously serving as Deputy Chief Harbor Engineer for POLB.
Chun first joined POLB as a civil engineer assistant in 1996 before becoming Deputy Chief Harbor Engineer in 2008.
Under his new position, Chun will oversee 45 employees within the Engineering Design Division as well as oversee the development and maintenance of Port channels, roads, wharfs, utilities and other facilities.
Chun earned his bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, and his master’s in Civil Engineering from California State University, Long Beach.
