The Port of Long Beach (POLB) saw a rise in cargo containers for the month of July, marking the busiest July since 2010.
With 297,615 Twenty-foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) of imports, 124,126 TEUs of exports, and 140,368 empty containers, POLB hit a grand total of 583,060 TEUs during the month. Imports marked a slight increase at .9%, while exports marked a 6.2% decline. Empty containers, meanwhile, showed a vast increase of 19.5%, bringing overall container shipment up by 3.7% compared to the previous month.
This year is being compared to 2013, a hard year to compete with given it was the port’s third-busiest year in its entire history, handling 6.73M TEUs in total.
