If you’re planning to travel Christmas week, you may want to plan ahead because things may be a little tricky with a recently announced 405 closure from December 23 to December 24.
As part of the Temple Avenue Bridge Rehabilitation project, the Northbound 405 Freeway from Lakewood Boulevard to Cherry Avenue will be closed from 8:00PM to 6:00AM, according to a statement from Caltrans released Friday. A full freeway closure of the Northbound 405 will take place from 11:59PM on December 23 to 4:00AM on December 24.
Additionally, the Southbound 405 from Cherry Avenue to Lakewood Boulevard will be closed from 8:00PM to 6:00AM. A full freeway closure of the Southbound 405 will take place from 11:59PM on December 23 to 5:00AM on December 24.
“The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has demolished and reconstructed a damaged portion of the Temple Avenue Bridge,” Caltrans said in a statement. “This has temporarily closed the southbound I-405 on-ramp from eastbound Spring Street for the duration of this bridge rehabilitation construction work. This full freeway closure is necessary to pour cement for the bridge deck. Detours will be posted.”
