With an increasing need to recruit foster and adoptive parents, Children’s Bureau recently launched a creative advertising campaign using modern illustrations of children and parents along with simple messages to love, provide, adopt or foster a child.

The agency will be promoted on hundreds of billboards, bus shelters, bus side panels, interior bus panels, airport and shopping mall shelters throughout Southern California to bring attention to the pressing need for loving, adopting families.

Outdoor companies such as CBS/Decaux, Clear Channel, Regency Outdoor Advertising, Titan Worldwide, Van Wagner Outdoor and Vista Media have donated the space to Children’s Bureau.  The Ballpark Advertising Agency donated creative services and Citibank donated $10,000 to help cover the cost of printing.

“Outdoor advertising offers an incredible forum to display different messages around town that together tell a story and promote a call to action,” said Alan Berkes, principal and creative director at The Ballpark Advertising Agency.

“We wanted to appeal to people interested in becoming foster and adoptive parents as well as build awareness of the mission of Children’s Bureau in a more general way with other constituencies.”

Print ads will also be developed for use in magazines and newspapers.

“A campaign of this magnitude helps us to reach those who might be thinking about becoming foster or adoptive parents but are unsure of how to start the process,” said Lou Graham, director of foster care and adoption for Children’s Bureau.

“We’ve received many calls and inquiries on our Web site from people who see the ads wanting more information.  It’s an incredible gift that makes a huge impact on our efforts to recruit much-needed families.”
