The City of Long Beach Office of Special Events and Filming was named as the top award recipient from the Outstanding Film Commission, the city announced in a statement Wednesday.

The location manager for “NCIS-LA” nominated the city for its work on last season’s show. A total of 437 film permits were issued in 2014, with a total of 655 production days. Most of the filming was for commercials but many feature films, like “American Sniper, “Amityville: The Awakening” and “Alexander and the Terrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” also included Long Beach shots. Recent television credits include shows like “Jane the Virgin,” “New Girl” and “Stalker.”

In the past, films like “American Pie,” “American Beauty” and “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” have all used Long Beach in production shots.

The City of Long Beach Office of Special Events and Filming helps film-makers by facilitating permits, locations, logistics, traffic plans, insurance, safety requirements and neighborhood concerns.

“Long Beach is home to a vibrant filming business that promotes economic development, including increased activity at restaurants, shops and other businesses,” said Mayor Robert Garcia in a statement. “We do filming right.”

Other nominees in the running for the Outstanding Film Commission award included the Chicago Film Office; Film in Iceland; Oregon Governor’s Office of Film & Television; and Royal Film Commission of Jordan.
