The City of Long Beach welcomed its newest employee, Ara Maloyan, who began his appointment as the Director of Public Works this past Monday.
Maloyan acted as Interim Director of Public Works when City Manager Pat West moved former Director of Public Works Mike Conway to the position of Business and Property Development Director in February of 2013. Before that, Maloyan was first hired by the City in July of 2012 as a city engineer in his position as Deputy Director of Public Works.
“I am honored at the opportunity to serve in this position,” Maloyan said in a press release. “I will continue to devote all my professional energy and skill on behalf of the entire Long Beach community.”
Maloyan’s educational background includes a bachelors degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from Cal State Los Angeles as well as a Construction Management Certificate from UCLA.
