Councilwoman Suzie Price will bring forward an item at this week’s City Council meeting Tuesday which seeks to ensure that taxpayer funds are spent wisely and prospective contractors are treated fairly when bidding on contracts with the City of Long Beach. According to a release, the item will request that the current Request for Proposal (RFP) process be reexamined.
“It is important to have the most transparent and competitive bidding process that increases the value of our service contracts and benefits our taxpayers,” Councilwoman Price said in a statement.
The recommendation will request that the City Manager and staff analyze the City’s current RFP process as well as bidding processes used by other entities and report back within 90 days with recommendations to improve the procurement process, according to the release.
The Long Beach City Council meets on Tuesday evenings at 5:00PM in the City Council Chambers, located at 333 W. Ocean Blvd.
