UPDATE | Sixth District Councilmember Dee Andrews has endorsed Jeannine Pearce for Long Beach City Council’s Second District seat, Pearce’s campaign announced today.
“I am supporting Jeannine Pearce for City Council because she is the only candidate who has a proven record of bringing diverse groups of people together to get things done for Long Beach neighborhoods,” said Andrews in a statement. “She has championed local hire ordinances and understands the importance of supporting programs that help our kids succeed. Jeannine will be a councilmember that our entire city can be proud of, I urge you to join me in supporting her campaign.”
Councilmember Dee Andrews has represented Long Beach’s sixth district since 2007 and most recently, made history as the first council member to win a primary election as a write-in.
“It is with great enthusiasm that we announce Councilmember Dee Andrews endorsement of my campaign for city council,” said Pearce in a statement. “Councilmember Andrews has always been the moral compass for our community, I am honored to have his support. He is an inspiration to disadvantaged youth everywhere and his work shows that he cares about his constituents.”

04/21/16 at 2:07PM | Second District Long Beach City Council candidate Jeannine Pearce just scored two more endorsements, this time from the Long Beach Democratic Club and Former Assemblymember Warren Furutani.
“Jeannine Pearce has provided the strong leadership and tireless advocacy on key issues that matter most to Democrats in Long Beach,” Long Beach Democratic Club President Uduak-Joe Ntuk said in a statement. “Long Beach Democrats are proud to endorse her and work towards her victory on June 7th.”
As an officially chartered Democratic Club with the Los Angeles County Democratic Central Committee, the Long Beach Democratic Club has had a presence in the city for more than 40 years. The club works to activate the community by advancing the goals and ideas of both the national and state Democratic parties within Long Beach, according to a release.
Former Assemblymember Furutani also pledged endorsement to Pearce. Furutani is currently a member of the Long Beach Democratic Club and is pursuing a seat in the state senate. In the past, Furutani represented California’s 55th district for two full terms from 2008-2012.
“I am honored to endorse Jeannine Pearce for Long Beach City Council,” said Assemblymember Furutani in a statement. “I have gotten to know Jeannine over the years as an activist for social and economic justice. She has a commitment to run an honest campaign, not taken oil money and has continued to uphold democratic values.”
Pearce heads into the June runoff election with an 8.5 percent lead over rival candidate Eric Gray.
“I am deeply honored to receive the support of yet another democratic club serving Long Beach,” Pearce said in a statement. “I am not just democrat for this election, I am a democrat every day and I am proud to be able to practice my democratic values alongside great organizations like the Long Beach Democrats.”
