2nd District (as well as 1st and 6th District) residents have a reason to rejoice as Vice Mayor Suja Lowenthal and 6th District Councilmember Dee Andrews announced on Thursday a set of changes to street sweeping parking restriction times.
While the vast majority of the changes lie in the 2nd since Lownethal led the charge, parts of the 6th and 1st benefit from the changes. Instead of being from 4:00AM to 8:00AM, new parking regulations on Orange and Walnut Avenues will be enforced later in the day.
Below are the new parking restriction times:
- Orange Ave. (from 4th to 7th Streets): 8:00AM to 10:00AM
- Orange Ave. (from 7th to Anaheim Streets): 12:00PM to 4:00PM
- Walnut Ave. (from 4th to 7th Streets): 8:00AM to 10AM
- Walnut Ave. (from 7th to Anaheim Streets): 12:00PM to 4:00PM
“A flyer announcing the change and a warning notice will be places on vehicles that violate the new restrictions between Septemeber 2 and September 16,” said city of Long Beach public works director Ara Maloyan. “No citations will be issued until Tuesday, September 23.”
Parking restrictions in street sweeping zones are enforced throughout Long Beach weekly on Tuesday through Friday with some holidays excepted, according to the city website.
