10:40am | Congresswoman Laura Richardson is asking for nominations to be selected by her and honored with a post office being named after them, according to the Congresswoman’s Facebook page. She is asking the public to post the name of their nominee and why the person deserves the honor.

It is unclear which post office the Congresswoman has in mind. However, there are between 15 and 20 post offices and smaller postal centers in Long Beach. It is common legislative practice for a member of the U.S. Congress to introduce legislation to rename a post office in their district. Unanimous support of a state’s congressional delegation is required to do so before the entire Congress votes on the naming change.
