11:00am | The NAACP Long Beach Branch announced today that they will honor significant men who have helped to shape the city of Long Beach. The celebration will be held at 3:00pm this Sunday, June 13 at Ernest McBride Sr. Park, 1550 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, 90813. A reception honoring the men will be held after the program.

According to Naomi Rainey, NAACP Long Beach Branch President:

Our NAACP 2010 Men of the Year Honorees are well-respected, devoted men who interact in a positive manner on family, spiritual, community, and civic basis. This multi-group of selected men has changed the face of Long Beach. The honorees have not only been there for their friends and family but for the community of Long Beach as well. The NAACP 2010 Men of the Year are all individually great role models.   They have taken action and followed the mindset of William Penn who once said, “I expect to pass through life but once. If, therefore, there by any kindness I can show, or any good thing I can do for any fellow being, let me do it now…as I shall not pass this way again.”
