3:45pm | In one of the most hotly-contested races of the election season, candidates for the City Council 3rd District seat will participate in a public debate tonight at The Gaslamp beginning at 7:00pm. A panel of local journalists from the Long Beach Press Club will present the candidates with questions, and questions from the audience are also encouraged.
Incumbent Gary DeLong has faced stiff competition from challengers Tom Marchese and Terry Jensen. Issues such as the City budget, public safety, breakwater reconfiguration and wetlands conservation figure to weigh heavily on the discussion tonight. All three competitors have been very vocal thus far and tonight’s debate should be a heavyweight bout.
