3:00pm | First District Councilmember Robert Garcia, the Long Beach Redevelopment Agency (RDA), Downtown Long Beach Associates (DLBA) and the Arts Council for Long Beach invite the community to the dedication of new neighborhood street banners in the East Village Arts District. The event will take place today, Tuesday, September 27 at 10:30am in front of Berlin by Portfolio Coffeehouse, 420 East 4th Street.

“The East Village Arts District is a unique part of the city, so it is fitting that it receives its own distinctive street banners to identify it,” said Councilmember Robert Garcia, 1st District. “Thanks to the Redevelopment Agency’s revitalization efforts, the neighborhood has continued to thrive as a lively and attractive place for people to reside and visit.”

“The Arts Council for Long Beach is excited to be working in collaboration with the Long Beach Redevelopment Agency on this new neighborhood banner program,” stated John Glaza, Interim Executive Director of the Arts Council for Long Beach. “This project is one more example of the positive impact that public art projects have in our community.”

The neighborhood street banners were designed by local artist Steve Child.

“We’re pleased to collaborate with our community partners on this project as we continue to beautify neighborhoods in our Downtown,” said DLBA President and CEO Kraig Kojian. “These banners really celebrate the unique qualities of Fourth Street in the East Village Arts District.”
